The Construction Source
All the best, The Editorial Team We will keep adding business units that enhance our offering and separate us from our competition. “ ” Editor From The Dear Reader, Welcome to the latest issue of Construction Source Canada, the magazine that highlights the best in building and building products from across the country. In this edition, we’ve shined our spotlight largely on the west coast, though the subjects we cover vary as greatly as ever. The businesses featured in this issue include: interior designers and renovators; precast concrete manufacturers; civil contractors; custom home builders; infill specialists; and at least one multi- award-winning, master-planned community. Themaster-planned community is #MyBelmont, a multi-phased project by Ledcor Property Investments, located in the heart of Langford, British Columbia. Over the past few years, it has won a succession of prestigious accolades, including ‘Best new Condo Development’ and ‘Residential Community of the Year’ at the Vancouver Island Building Excellence Awards, and most recently ‘Best Residential Community’ at the 2021 Georgie’s. We spoke to several Ledcor teammembers about the community and how it has earned that recognition. Ian Asseltine, Vice President of Development, talked about what the company saw in Langford and what made them invest. Marcela Corzo, Director of Development, talked about how they earned the trust of a previously-reticent market. And Scott Morrissey, Director of Construction, explained why the quality of their building product exceeds anything else in the region. Also in this issue is Acres Enterprises, a civil, general and industrial construction company with an over-40-year history of managing multi-million dollar projects throughout B.C. In a conversation with their Vice President of Operations, we discussed their unrivalled investment in technology, and the growth it has powered in recent years especially. Then there’s Timber Haus, an Edmonton-based builder of naturally-inspired infill homes in mature neighborhoods. President Don Tolsma and Vice President John Wilson walked us through that focus, why they are so passionate about what they do, and why they believe customers have responded so strongly to their offering. For more on those stories – and more like them, about other industry leaders across the building spectrum – just keep reading.
