The Construction Source
THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA Solving problems These days, Buttcon is particularly drawn to projects that pose a challenge. As a company, they take a lot of pride in their organizational and problem-solving skills, and they enjoy taking on jobs that other contractors might label ‘too hard.’ A prime example of such a project is their ongoing work on St. Michael’s Cathedral in Toronto. That project – valued at $111 million dollars – involves the historical restoration of a 157-year-old Gothic cathedral, which is situated in the heart of the city, and which represents the principal church of Canada’s largest English-speaking Catholic archdiocese. The restoration work on the project was extensive. It included restoring the crypt basement, the west façade masonry, and the narthex (i.e. the entrance area). The crypt restoration involved the transformation of the existing subgrade level crawl space into a new usable full height basement.
