FEBRUARY 2021 some of the city’s most prolific and well regarded names in homebuilding, and their relationships typically go back five years or longer. On the retail side, meanwhile, Premier Built Garages has grown their market share considerably, especially in the last three years. Their balance between builder and retail clients is now close to 50-50. Nicholas believes both kinds of clients choose Premier Built Garages due to their standard of quality. However, he believes builders are especially drawn to the company because of how simple and easy they make the process. “We’re able to streamline that process for them, because we’re a one-stop-shop,” he explains. “They don’t have to call a bunch of sub-trades and suppliers. They just have to make one phone call. They tell us, ‘We need this garage done at this address on this street,’ and we get it done. That’s it. They don’t have to write a bunch of purchase orders, or write a bunch of cheques when it’s finished, or do a bunch of scheduling when it starts. They make one phone call and write one cheque at the end.” Premier Built Garages has also built and retained a lot of trust in that market, which helps them get work. Nicholas started building that trust very early in his career, when he first worked with many of his current builder clients as a framer. He and his team have maintained that trust simply by “delivering good quality work every time.” “At the end of the day, the reason people keep coming back is because you do your job,” he says. “It’s that simple. If you do what you’re supposed to do every time, then they have no reason to not trust you. They have no reason to not come back.” On the retail side, meanwhile, Nicholas believes their point of difference is slightly different. In that market, he says, clients are “not just looking for a product, they’re looking for a service” –
