“We’re interested in a wide range of building types, and we do a variety of work,” says Jesse Garlick. “That’s one of the characteristics of our firm. We like to keep it diverse.” In particular, the firm aims to do a balance of public and private sector work, like they are doing currently. For example, in the private sector, they are working on a series of tenant improvements, office buildings, and commercial redevelopments. In the public sector, meanwhile, they recently completed a rec centre addition in Sooke, they are now working on a health centre addition for a First Nations group, and they have several large scale affordable housing projects in the works. “No matter what we’re doing, we’re helping our clients achieve their objectives,” Jesse explains. “If it’s a non-profit, we’re helping them achieve their community objectives. If it’s a private client, we’re helping themachieve their commercial objectives. That’s what drives us. We want to help our clients achieve success.” Jesse has personally been working in architecture for over 20 years. He started his career abroad, in Oslo, Norway, and since returning to British Columbia he’s worked on a broad range of projects, many of them award-winning – such as the K-12 school in Comox, BC.
