AUGUST 2021 connection between view and viewer. That involved a lot of engineering, but Jennifer calls the result “beautiful,” and “well worth the effort.” Currently, in Old Ottawa South, Ethos is also in the process of converting three townhomes into a six-unit apartment. That’s a purely interior project, where they will complete the renovation without modifying the exterior at all. Next year, the company will be creating a low-rise apartment building on Dalhousie Street. That will be their largest project to date, and will involve retaining and restoring an existing heritage building while constructing a 4-storey 28+/- unit apartment building at the rear. With the design, which they are finalizing now, their goal is to honour that heritage while modernizing the look – “a mix of old and new styles,” Jennifer describes it. That’s a snapshot of the growing diversity of Ethos’ work. Moving forward, Adam and Jennifer want to maintain that diversity as they grow. They want to continue doing infills (as long as the financials make sense), they want to grow their rental portfolio, and they want to do more in the low-to-mid-rise apartment space. Lastly, Adam and Jennifer wish to continue growing the company in terms of reputation and acclaim. In 2019, they won an NKBA Award for Best Kitchen. In 2020, they were a finalist at the GOHBA Housing Design Awards. They see a lot more industry recognition like that in their future. karim.zein@hubinternational.com 613 794-1944 O hubinternational.com Insurance Bonding Employee Benefits Retirement & Private Wealth
