She also has an International Business Degree from Carleton University, and has founded and sold three profitable businesses since 2009. Adam and Jennifer purchased their first property together in 2012, in a neighbourhood near Algonquin College. In the early years, they continued to focus on revitalizing City View / St. Claire Gardens in Ottawa, purchasing and tearing down wartime homes and building modern homes in their place. That led to some contracting work for clients – mostly renovations and additions, for customers in mature Ottawa neighborhoods. They continue to do some contracting for clients today, but their emphasis is now on their own developments. In particular, they are focused on creating modern homes and low-rise multi-family developments in sought-after neighborhoods in and around Downtown Ottawa. According to Adam, Ethos’ projects – both single family and multi-family – typically stand out for a number of reasons. Near the top of that list is the beauty of their exteriors, which they put a lot of thought and consideration into. “Our homes catch people’s eyes,” Adam says. “They often have double-height windows. They have aesthetically pleasing exterior finishes. They are cohesive, well put together and inviting. There’s a lot of thought put into the materials.” “When you’re building a home, there are a broad array of construction materials and hundreds of finishes to choose from, it can be overwhelming. It’s quite a process,” he explains. “With a lot of builders, those decisions may not be made as intentionally, thoughtfully or without the aid of an experienced architect or designer.
