People were investing here more and more.” From the start, Kyle says their visionwas to create high quality, customizedprojects. They didn’t want to be a production builder – and regardless, there was not much room to be, as there were not a lot of subdivisions in the area. The municipality’s residential stock was – and still is – mostly cottages, second homes and larger estate. Those were the kind of projects Kyle and Christine wanted to do, and the kind of clients they wanted to service. These days, the company’s projects typically range in value from $750,000 to $2.5 million. Within that higher-end niche, Kyle believes clients choose Hickory Homes because of him and Christine, and the personal service they provide. “We’re a husband-and-wife team,” Kyle says, “and we’re very involved in the project at all stages. We do the design, we run the site – we recently opened a furniture store, so we can even do the furnishings. We take the client’s hand and we guide them through the whole process step-by-step.” “And we make each home unique,” he adds. “We spend a lot of time with clients in the design stage. We ask them a lot of questions about how they’re going to use the house, both now and in the future. Their answers heavily inform the design. We make sure the finished product reflects their personality and meets all their needs.” “We also make sure they enjoy the process,” he says. “We know that it’s not always an easy one. Building a home can be quite stressful. It’s a long process, there are a lot of decisions to be made, there’s a lot of money involved. We make sure we’re always open and honest, so the client always understands what’s going on. We do everything we can to ease their stress.”
