For this edition, we have shown our spotlight on Holborn Group, an award-winning developer with a diverse portfolio of retail, residential, hotel, and office properties throughout Brit- ish Columbia. They design and build each project with the ex- press goal of “elevating the lifestyles” of the people who live, work, and stay in them. The result has been some of province’s most iconic towers and developments of recent history. To properly tell Holborn’s story, we caught up with company Principal Joo Kim Tiah. He walked us through his career in real estate, talked about his passion for design and building, and ex- plained what excited him about Vancouver and its surrounds. He also went in-depth on some of the company’s higher-profile projects, including the recently-award-winning Holborn Univer- sity Heights, which he believes raises the bar for multi-family developments in the province. Also in this issue is Evolve Design | Build, another company seeking to change the game in British Columbia. In their case, they are a Kelowna-based commercial interior design business that provides a truly complete range of commercial interior services. They provide for every stage of a project’s life, from design through to building and beyond, and they take account- ability for everything that happens along the way. Evolve’s model is rare in Canada, but more common in the UK, where company founder and owner Jules Galloway was born. We spoke to Jules about the many advantages of that model and about the successes that have resulted – including the long list of the industry accolades they have been continuously awarded. Of course, this issue also features some looks at renovators and homebuilders from all across Canada – all of them award-win- ners themselves.
