agreed with that. I believe that if there’s something that im- pacts the customer, they should make the decision.” Glenn decided to use his knowl- edge and experience to create a “different kind of company,” and in 1998, Cedar Winds was born. In the years since, the company has grown significant- ly. For a long time, Glenn and Teresa were the only direct em- ployees. After roughly 15 years, however, the company refined their process. They began put- ting together the most profes- sional and highly-skilled team in the area. Firstly, the company brought on board some in-house con- tractors to “fill the gaps” be- tween subcontractors. There had always been a “grey area” between where one subcon- tractor would stop and the next one would begin, and having their own in-house specialists to facilitate the handover elim- inated that problem. Secondly, they converted to their current ‘design-build’ model, wherein they work side- by-side with clients from the design phase through to final handover. They believe this model provides more value to homeowners, that it guaran- tees higher standards, and that it makes the process as enjoy- able and worry-free as possible. “We have become a full service builder,” Glenn says. “In my opinion, we’re the only one in the area.” “We have an architectural de- signer on staff, an interior de- signer on staff, a financial ad- ministrator on staff, we have a customer care specialist – there is no other contractor in our im- mediate geographic area that has all that in house,” he adds. “They don’t have that immedi- ate level of service.” For the company’s clients – who are often professionals with busy lives – that depth of service means having only one point of contact throughout the whole build. That’s a “huge conve- nience,” Glenn says, and some- thing they really value about working with Cedar Winds. THE CONSTRUCTION SOURCE CANADA
